The GOLF TOURNAMENT MANAGER is a great friend of MCLEANSCOTLAND; Brian Wickes of New York state, USA. Brian is a good golfer, but even better friend, Brian and Chrissy (shown right) came to the 2002 and 2007 Gatherings with us and aiming to be back for the 2012 if all goes to plan.  It is my (Paul) understanding that a great many of the golfers in this tournament will be from USA, so who better to place our trust in than Brian!  Brian is here to answer any questions, arrange the tee times and generally run this tournament for the benefit of the Heritage Trust. Brian has volunteered for this and he is getting NO financial reward, many thanks go to Brian for this. I am confident he will receive many plaudits.

Tobermory Golf Course is a 9 hole course set on the cliff tops above Tobermory Bay. It offers superb panoramic views which includes Ardnamurchan, Loch Sunart and on a clear day, the Isle of Skye. Due to the hilly nature of the course, it provides a tough challenge to all golfers.  The Visitor's book is full of fabulous reviews from all over the world including that of "past Open Champion" Mr TOM WATSON. (He also found it a tough challenge!!)  Below; overlooking the 2nd green.

All profits from this tournament are going to Clan Maclean Heritage Trust. Charity Number registered in Scotland: SC024481   We urge you all to become a Friend of the Trust, click on the weblink for full details.   www.maclean.org/heritage-trust/maclean-heritage-1.php

2012 Clan Maclean Gathering

"Clan Maclean Open"

Golf Tournament

FRIDAY 22 JUNE

Tobermory Golf Club

Best 9 hole golf course in Scotland - The Scotsman January 2008.  We will be running a MIXED ‘Open’ Competition.  The trophy will be held at Duart Castle and a keepsake presented to the winner. The advantage of an open competition is that there is a good chance that one of the local golfers will end up playing in each group and therefore assist visitors with help around the course.

Plans to date; We would wish to have a Maclean winner; The Duart Trophy. Non Maclean winner; The Gathering Trophy.  A three ball group with ten minutes gap, taking approx 3.3/4 hours to complete 18 holes. Those teeing off early have priority when completing 9 holes to continue their return 9 holes. We aim to complete the whole tournament by 4pm, giving plenty of time for golfers to return to their accommodation for a shower and change, prior to attending the Friday evening party at Tobermory, which Clan Maclean organise. The Tobermory Club has a clubhouse and are happy to serve bacon butties (bacon roll) & drinks throughout the day.

MIXED GOLF; INDIVIDUALS OR TEAMS WELCOME
