MAY
8 Dunbar The wee
band was 2nd in the grade 4 competition
and we won the MSR which is a brilliant
achievement for us considering it's the
first time we have ever played an MSR
the big band was 4th in grade 2 comp and
4th in grade 1 comp which was brilliant
so it was a very successful day for
everyone.

May 22
Scottish Champs
A boiling day which is unusual for Dumbarton
felt funny not getting frozen or soaked!
grade 4 felt like they played brilliantly
but only managed a 16th however we are new
to the grade and will need to build
ourselves up to it, the grade 2 band played
really well but also finished 16th the good
news is they got a 9th from one of the
piping judges, Eileen
May 29 Bathgate
The
wee band played really well and Paul was
very pleased with
the
performance and so were the judges
awarding the wee band a well
deserved
1st place but to top that off the
wee band was also awarded the
marching & discipline prize well
done to them they deserved it. The big
band didn't bring home any prizes today
however they played well In both grade 2
and grade 1 and every little helps, the
Denny bands entered the march past as 1
band and were awarded the best
dressed band on parade prize so the
new uniform is certainly paying
off, well
done to both bands. Eileen

JUNE
5 Shotts Well the rain shower before the march past
didn't put a dampner on the results. After
yet another scorching day the wee band
managed a brilliant second place just behind Stamperland and were awarded first in
piping, second in drumming and ensemble.
The grade 2 played well, finishing 6th and
also played up in grade 1 and came 7th, well
done all!
JUNE 12 Bearsden
Another sunny day and more Denny trophies at
Bearsden.
The grade 4
band were 3rd in the competition and
were 2nd in the msr - well done to
all. On a good note the grade 2 band were
4th today which is an improvement on
previous competitions. We have an easy
weekend next weekend with the gala and then
it's down to Annan for the British
championships so fingers crossed and c'mon
the Denny!
JUNE 26 British Champs Annan
well it was a roasting hot day! I thought
both bands played well, only Grade 4 got
silver, a superb 4th place. Paul

JULY
Sat, 31 European Championships Belfast.
We went to Belfast and got shafted by the
judges (my own personal opinion; Paul
McLean), no way were we as poor as they made
out, other bands told us that in addition to
what we thought. But - we are there to fight
another day, we were down aye, but watch us
bounce back! In Belfast we had some good fun
too, lots of laughs but tired coming home.
